By about age three, children can learn to enjoy and create music. While they may not be ready for a rigorous, highly structured system of serious music study, by the time they can hold a child-sized guitar and pluck the strings, they can start to build on and reinforce the natural development of their sense of rhythm, pitch and melodic contour. This is an excellent time to start! There is not, however, an age at which it is "too late" to learn.
